Vacant Post – Parish Clerk, Tedburn St Mary Parish Council

Tedburn St Mary Parish Council seeks a well organised, independent and flexible individual to take on the role of Clerk from May 2018. The Clerk is the Responsible Financial Officer to the Parish Council. The Parish Council administers a small cemetery within the village and the clerk is required to liaise with the public and with Undertakers regarding burials. The person appointed must work closely with the Chair of the Council and other Councillors.

The role is varied and interesting. Confidence in using Word, Excel, Email, social media, managing a website, and minute taking is essential as is an ability to manage budget sheets.

Other skills such as writing funding bids, knowledge of the planning system and experience in dealing with public would be a great advantage, although there will be training courses available to help with any skills gaps for the right applicant.

Tedburn St Mary Parish Council meets 11 times per year on the first Monday evening of the month or another adjacent date where necessary, due to Bank Holidays. Attendance at these meetings is essential.

The post is for 12 hours per week (salary in accordance with NALC & SLCC recommended rates) . The scale points are between 15 and 27, £17,072 p.a. – £24,174 p.a. pro rata, depending on experience. An allowance is made for home working. A laptop and mobile telephone are provided.
