What’s on in January 2018

Cheriton Bishop Lunch Club – Lunches are held on the first Thursday of each month, this month it will be January 4th 2018. If you would like to come along and meet new people please phone; Jean Martin 01647 24586 or ring the Acorn Office on the number below for more details.

Minibus trips to Sainsbury’s from Cheriton Dates are Wednesday January 10th & 24th. Help is provided in store and a wheelchair service is also available. We will also help carry your shopping too! The fare is just £4 return.

Teign Valley Memory Café This month it will be Thursday 11th & 25th January. Meetings are held 10.30 – 12.30 at Strawberry Hill, Dunsford on the B3212 – look out for the sign.

Coffee Morning at Teign Valley Community Hall The Bowden Room, Teign Valley Community Hall 10.30 – 12. Please drop in for a tea or coffee, a slice of homemade cake and meet up with friends, everyone welcome. This month it will be Tuesday January 9th & 23rd.

Dunsford Coffee Morning – No coffee morning this month due to pantomime.

What else do we do? – We have a fantastic group of volunteers who help to provide transport to medical social and wellbeing appointments, we can deliver prescriptions, we also loan wheelchairs and equipment to assist you in the home.

SHARE, GROW, EAT 

Saturday 24 February 11am to 2pm at the Boniface Centre 

Sustainable Crediton’s 10th Annual Seed Share.

Come and find some free seeds. Bring some to share if possible.

Sharing seeds saved by local people, promotes biodiverse, low-cost local growing, and encourages gardeners to get to know each other and share skills.

Come and enjoy stalls such as the Devon Wildlife Trust, Beekeeping, Orchards Live, Fairtrade, Composting, the Crediton Pig club, the Medicinal Forest Garden Trust and many more local businesses and organisations interested in gardening, organic production, or other aspects of sustainable living.

Lunches (this year made from waste food donated by local businesses,) tea and cakes.

‘It was dreadfully cold, snowing and turning dark.’

‘It was so beautiful out in the country. It was summer’.

So begin two tales told by the Arts Centre storytellers Geoff Fox and Peter Hamilton, one sad, one happy. Together they will bring to life two stories from the treasury of Hans Christian Andersen. The show is suitable for ages 6 years old upwards.

Brown Paper Bag Theatre Company presents: The Tinderbox 

Dogs with huge eyes, a Queen desperate to prevent a prophecy, and a determined soldier are wrapped inside the latest production from our resident theatre company. The tale is based upon Charles Causley’s adaptation of one of Hans Christian Andersen’s favourite ta-les. The Tinderbox, with its unfolding plot and live music, is a delightful show suitable for everyone from age 8 upwards.
